New Rail Line from Denver Airport to Downtown

As much as experienced travelers value cheap airplane tickets and discount travel packages, convenience when traveling is also highly valued. Anything that lessens the amount of time actually spent traveling and reduces hassles while traveling is of great interest to travelers. To make traveling out of and into Denver more convenient, work commenced recently on a new rail line that will connect the citys downtown to Denver International Airport.

The new rail line, being called the East Corridor line is projected to be running by 2016 and is the first of four lines that will be constructed for a new commuter rail system in the region. Although Denver currently offers light rail service, this service does not extend to its airport.

Public rail transportation is becoming increasingly important at major U.S. airports. Work is currently being done to connect airports via rail in many cities, including Dallas Love Field, Dallas/Fort Worth, Los Angeles, Miami, Oakland, Phoenix, Salt Lake City, and Washington Dulles.

Denvers East Corridor line is expected to cost approximately $1 billion and will stop at five stations between the airport and downtown Union Station. Making their travel experience all the more convenient, passengers catching the train at Union Station will be able to check their bags at the station prior to getting on the train for the 30 minute ride to the airport.
