Finding that Special Someone Left at the Gate

Reconnecting with someone you flirted with while in the air but neglected to ask for contact information is far more daunting than finding cheap airplane tickets and discount hotel rooms or cheap vacation packages.

A new website called WeMetOnAPlane has been created to provide shy and/or forgetful passengers a second opportunity to connect.

Many single travelers have experienced a what if feeling after connecting with a seatmate on a flight. What if we had only exchanged emails and/or phone numbers? Could we have started a meaningful relationship?

The founder of WeMetOnAPlane, Will Scully-Power, reviewed Googles search data and discovered that over 4,000 people were searching daily for people they had met on a plane. Until this websites creation there was no website or service available to help facilitate a reconnection of seatmates.

Claiming love as his motivation, Will launched his website in January and started gathering stories. Travelers who want to find a past seatmate can post their stories and hope that their seatmates come across them or they can search the site for a seatmates story using a flight number, year, month, date, departure or destination. If someone posts a reply on the website, an alert is emailed to the person who wrote the story. Users can choose to be notified via Facebook and/or Twitter.

WeMetOnAPlane is in its infantcy and to date, only about a dozen stories have been posted and no romantic reconnections have been reported. The hope is that word of mouth will spread and news about this site will make its way to people wanting to find that special seatmate.

The founder expects the next iteration of his website to include more social media features and ways for people to connect and to offer iPhone and Android apps.

Will is looking for an exclusive global airline partner for his site. He would love to see mystery flights and flights designed specifically for meeting new people. www.cheapfares.com
