Women Only Toilets on Flights

Women travelers value cheap fares and cheap vacation packages every bit as much as their male counterparts. Starting in March, female passengers on Japans All Nippon Airways will have a toilet dedicated only to women on most international routes.

The female only toilet will be located in the rear of planes and will be available to all female travelers, regardless of the class of service where they are seated. The decision to offer women only lavatories was the result of a 07 online survey in which 90 percent of the responding women said that such an option would be appealing.

The airline found that women do not like sharing toilets with men because of their tendency to leave seats up. Demand for women only toilets was particularly strong among female travelers taking extended flights.

Men will only be allowed to use women only designated lavatories in emergencies or when there are only a small number of women passengers on a given flight.
