Upgrade Your Vacation Cheaply

Just because you purchased cheap airplane tickets and discount hotel rooms does not mean that you cannot take advantage of some of the finer things without spending a lot of additional money.

The following are a few cheap upgrade ideas that can make your trip all the more enjoyable:

Politely ask the airline check in agent at airport about upgrade options. Same day upgrades sometimes cost as little as $25 and frequently these agents are able to upgrade passengers for connecting flights as well as occasionally return flights. Even when no seats are available for a higher class, you may be able to secure a premium coach seat which usually offers more leg room.

If you do not want to pay any more for your seat, you can still ask the check in agent to check to find out if there are any better seats available at no cost.

Long admission lines at popular tourist destinations, such as amusement parks or museums can prove time consuming and frustrating. Many attractions have started offering advance purchase admission tickets which often offer a specific entrance time.

When reserving a car it is common to see an economy car offer for as little as $18 per days vs. a full size car showing a $50 day rate. However when you check in at a car rental desk, upgrades are often offered for as little as a few extra dollars per day. Be aware though that by waiting to upgrade when you pick up your car you may find that a larger car may not be available. Often by renting a car online you can upgrade multiple levels for as little as $3 per day.
