Save Up to $100 in Checked Bag Fees

Some travelers are being cautious about purchasing cheap airplane tickets or discount travel packages because of concerns over what their total trip will cost after airline fees are added in. To encourage guests to travel, Holiday Inn parent IHG is not only extending its 2010 Check it free bag fee rebate program, but has doubled its offer to $100.

Through April 30th, IHG will reimburse guests staying over weekends for their airline checked bag fees up to $100 per household for two bags on the same trip. All of IHGs 4,500 hotels are participating in this program including Crown Plaza, Holiday Inn, InterContinental, and Staybridge Suites.

IHG first ran its Check it free promotion on September 1st, 2010, limiting the rebate amount to $50.

Given that leisure travel typically drops after the holidays, IHG decided to launch this promotion to help its hotels earn a greater share of the slow period travel.

Eligible guests earn up to $100, in the form of a prepaid Visa card, if they:

Are a U.S. citizen

Reserve two consecutive weekend nights at an IHG branded hotel.

Pay with a Visa credit card.

Fill out the rebate form knowing they will receive their rebate in the mail.

Over 1 million guests stayed at an IHG branded hotel over qualifying weekend during the fall promotion and paid with a Visa card. 500,000 people visited the site which contained the rebate form.

IHGs hopes this promotion results in IHG hotels being the first place travelers want to stay at while on a trip.
