Move to the Front of Airport Security Checkpoints

Travelers savvy in the ways of finding cheap airplane tickets and cheap vacation packages are increasingly checking out TSAs (Transportation Security Administration) PreCheck expedited screening program which is operating out of 25 U.S. airports for select Alaska, American, Delta, United, and US Airways passengers.

Members of this program flying on any of these airlines at one of the airports which support this program can leave their belts and shoes on when going through security checkpoints and do not have to pull their laptops out of carry-on luggage.

To qualify for this program travelers need to be an elite frequent flier with one of the participating airlines or be a member of one of the U.S. Customs and Border Protections (CBP) Trusted Traveler programs, including Global Entry, NEXUS and SENTRI.

If you want to sign up for CBPs Global Online Enrollment System, you will need to fill out an online application and pay a $100 nonrefundable application fee. CBP schedules in person interviews at one of its Global Entry Enrollment Centers.

Applicants need to bring either a current passport or drivers license. If approved, members will have their photos taken, fingerprints scanned, and be given a PASS ID with a unique number to enter when making airline reservations.

Trusted Travelers have their information embedded in barcodes on their boarding passes.

Today TSA PreCheck is only available for U.S. domestic flights. Ten more airports are expected to be added to this program before the end of this year.
