Delta Upgrading Its Narrowbody Planes

Delta Airlines, already proud of its cheap airplane tickets and cheap vacation packages, hasdecided that it wants to improve the comfort of its passengers flying onnarrowbody planes. To that end, it hasannounced plans to spend $770 million remodeling the cabins on 225 narrowbodyplanes over the next three years.

This renovation will increase capacity for overhead bins, addnew slim-line seats with adjustable headrests, update LED cabin lights, andmodernize lavatories. All passengerswill be provided with electrical power next to every seat, as well as satelliteTV.

The new interiors are going on Deltas Boeing 757-200s,737-800s, and planes in the Airbus A320 family.

The remodeled 757-200 planes will have 18 or 20 seats infirst class, 28 or 29 in premium economy, and 150 or 151 in economy.

The Boeing 737s will hold 16 seats in first class, 18 inpremium economy, and 126 in economy.

The newly configured A319 and A320 planes will include 12and 16 seats in first class, respectively. All economy seats of both types of planes (102 on the A319 and 126 onthe A320) will have 31 inches of pitch and wider seats, with an increase to 18inches from the current 17.2 inches. Both types of aircraft will offer 18 premium economy seats with 34inches of pitch.
