Dealing with Passengers who Loath Kids

Cheap airplane tickets and discount hotel rooms as well as cheap vacation packages are all great reasons to take your family on a vacation. Unfortunately some travelers flying without children cant stand being around them on planes.

A recent survey found that screaming children were cited as the worst part of flying by almost 68 percent of respondents. Airlines are listening. In 2011 Ryanair, Europes budget airline, introduced child free flights and Malaysia Airline banned babies from its first class cabins on select flights.

The following are tips on how to handle passengers who dislike being exposed to kids on flights:

Make friends and ask those seated nearby to let you know if your children are bothering them. Telling other passengers that it is fine to complain tends to make them less cranky. Purchasing a round of drinks for neighboring passengers or passing out ear plugs to drown out child noises can often make your fellow passengers most sympathetic.

Remove your childrens shoes since there will be less kicking if their toes get sore from this unwanted behavior.

To prevent in-flight meltdowns, pack toys, art and craft programs and travel sized games and puzzles. Pack books or download childrens stories to your smartphone or tablet. On a very long flight you would be wise to bring along a kid friendly movie or video game for them to play.

Pack a variety of healthy snacks in separate containers. Dole out food one at a time to keep your kids occupied and silent. Consider bringing a special treat to hand out for good behavior towards the end of your flight.

Parental interaction with their kids is key to them behaving on a plane. Many travelers biggest complaint is not the childrens behavior as much as their inattentive parents. Adult travelers should be 100 percent focused on their children.

Do not get upset if other passengers groan when you board with your children. Remember many passengers tend to be sympathetic to the demands of flying with children. www.cheapfares.com
