Vacation Saving Apps

Nothing spoils a vacation quicker that started off promising with the purchase of cheap airplane tickets and discount hotel rooms than getting sick on the road.

Few things are more frustrating, particularly when abroad, to try to communicate with a pharmacist who does not speak your language regarding medicines that are needed.

Now there are apps that can help vacationers find a doctor, receive emergency help in an unfamiliar place, choose a restaurant with an acceptable food safety record, and even help outsmart jetlag.

The following are apps designed to keep people healthy when traveling:

ZocDoc is a free app available for iPhone and Android devices that enables users to find a doctor by location, specialty, and whether insurance will be accepted, wherever you might be traveling.

StreetSafe is available for iPhone and Android devices and requires a $19.99 monthly subscription. It connects the user with a personal guide via a phone for advice regarding an unknown neighborhood and help in an emergency.

JetLag Genie is available for iPhone at the cost of $2.99 and provides the user an alarm clock that gradually synchronizes the users sleep cycles with another time zone.

DineSafe is free for Android devices and checks U.S. and Canadian restaurants food safety records.
