TSA Tips on Getting Through Security Faster

On rare occasions a trip that started off being planned properly with the purchase of cheap airplane tickets or cheap vacation packages can be complicated by hassles experienced while going through airport security checkpoints.

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) recommends the following to get through its security checkpoints faster:

Pack an organized carry-on bag using layers. TSA officials will be better able to see what is in a carry-on bag if it is packed with a layer of clothes, then electronics, more clothes, and then any heavier items.

Prepare a one quart clear plastic, zip top bag to carry all liquids in your carry-on.

Pack all coats and jackets in checked bags when possible.

Do not wrap gifts that will be carried onto the plane.

Undeveloped film should go in carry-on bags.

If you are unsure if an item is prohibited to be carried in your carry-on bag, either leave it in your checked baggage or leave the item at home.

Before going through a full body scanner make certain that all items have been removed from your pockets. Any irregularity that appears on the screen will require further time consuming inspection.

Certain metal body piercings may cause machines to alarm, which will result in additional screening. If you do not want to be exposed to a pat-down search, you may want to remove your body piercings before proceeding to a security checkpoint.

If a passenger is wearing headwear or loose fitting clothing that is large enough to hide prohibited items, he or she may be directed to additional screening.

Remove shoes before going through security and place them directly on the belt to go through the X-ray instead of in a bin with other items, making it easier for officers to view your shoes. www.cheapfares.com
