Try Swimming in the Sky

Travelers well versed in the ways of finding cheap airplane tickets and cheap vacation packages, sometimes are on the hunt to do something while traveling that they have never tried before. The Chinese Holiday Inn in Shanghai Pudong Kangqiao provides such an opportunity by housing a swimming pool in the sky.

Part of its indoor pool which is located on the top of the 24 story hotel extends from the main building and is suspended mid air. The pool has a glass bottom that was constructed with the input of multiple architects and even aerospace experts to ensure its safety.

Guests who have swum in this pool describe a delirious sense of swimming in the sky. While in the pool swimmers can see the street clearly down below while pedestrians on Xiuyan Lu can see the swimmers way up above. The view of the city from the pool is said to be unreal.

We wanted to provide our guests a unique swimming experience, and let them feel theyre vacationing even in a bustling city, said a hotel spokesperson.

The pools dimensions are 30 meters long (about 98 feet), six meter wide (20 feet) and 1.5 meters deep (5 feet). It is the first such pool of its kind in China.

This 390 room four star hotel is located about 22 kilometers southeast from downtown Shanghai and 30 kilometers west of Shanghai Pudong International Airport. Daily rates at this hotel start at $125.
