Travel More Efficiently with Less Hassle

Frequent fliers who know where to go to purchase cheap airplane tickets, discount hotel rooms, and cheap auto rentals, or cheap vacation packages are often stressed because they feel that they do not have enough time.

Some travelers try to combine business and pleasure outings into a single trip. Others plan family vacation itineraries in such detail that everyone is exhausted and on edge trying to stay on schedule. Still others are so busy that they rarely take needed vacations and when they do they do not make the time to plan those vacations properly.

The following are tips on how to travel more enjoyably:

1) Travel as lightly as possible to make it easier to get through security, make tight connections, deal with terminal shutdowns, and other unexpected problems, as well as avoid baggage fees.

2) Dress to make passing through security as effortless as possible. This means leaving jewelry at home, removing piercings if possible, and wearing security friendly clothes such as slip on shoes, belts with plastic buckles and simple clothing to make security searches easier.

3) Be ready to deal with delays by adding the phone numbers of your airline, car rental company, shuttle service, and hotel to the contact list in your cell phone.

4) Ask others to make some of your travel reservations by doing things such as requesting the front desk at your hotel to call a cab, make a dinner reservation or arrange for a tour or day trip. Consider making your airfare, hotel and car rental at a single travel website since not only will you save time, but often significant money as well.

5) Request seats near the front of your plane which will mean that you will be among the first to get off and also have more time to get things done prior to boarding.

6) If you are renting a car, make a point of asking where the nearest airport gas station is when you pick up your car. It is far cheaper to return a car with a full tank of gas and it is very frustrating and often time consuming to find an airport gas station without directions.

7) Make preparing for future trips easier by creating a single comprehensive packing list and saving it on your computer. Then prior to leaving on any trip, customize your list and print out a copy to refer to as you pack.

8) If at all possible, and economically feasible, fly direct since connections require additional time and missed connections waste even more time.

9) Fly early in the day since that is when there are fewer delays, cancellations, and people traveling.

10) Look into departing from other airports if they are less crowded. Airports with fewer departing and arriving flights often experience fewer flight delays. www.cheapfares.com
