As important as it is for most of us to carefully review cheap travel optionssuch as cheapairplane tickets and cheap vacation packages, beforemaking reservations, a trip can be made all the more pleasant when travelershave access to free Wi-Fi while in route.
The good news is that unlimited free Wi-Fi is provided atmost North American airports. Notableholdouts are the New York City areas airports: JFK, LaGuardia, and Newark Airports.
In June of 2014 Port Authority announced that by the fall ofthat year complimentary 30 minute Wi-Fi sessions would be available at allthree airports. Although some progresswas made, the deadline got pushed back to March 2015 and currently there remainmajor gaps in the promised free Wi-Fi coverage at these airports.
The official websites for these airports claim that Wi-Fi isprovided everywhere on a pay as you go basis. Unfortunately the promised 30 minutes of free Wi-Fi is only available atsome terminals all the time and in other on an occasional basis.
Port Authority has acknowledged that six terminals now havethe 30 minutes of free Wi-Fi in place and work is being done to help expeditethis service in the remaining terminals.
Where free Wi-Fi is not currently offered, passengers cangain access to 30 minutes of complimentary Wi-Fi when sponsorships areavailable.
Terminalscurrently offering 30 minutes of free Wi-Fi include:
Newark:Terminals B and C
JFK: Terminals 4 and 8
LaGuardia: Terminal A and B
Terminalspending conversion, but where sponsored sessions are offered 50% of the timeinclude:
