Although this deal does not extend to hot new InterContinental hotels, like the Times Square hotel for stays over the holidays, there are 125 hotels participating, 77 of which are in the United States that can be reserved using only 5,000 points.
Priority Club Reward members need to check out Priority Clubs PointBreaks which is a list of InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) brand hotels that offer free nights for 5,000 points. Some travel experts view this deal as so special that they advise planning a trip around a participating hotel such to take advantage of the savings.
The PointBreaks list changes quarterly. IHG just recently released the list for the rest of 2010.
PointBreaks hotels in the United States are primarily Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express hotels, though there are a few Crowne Plaza, Hotel Indigo, and a couple of luxury InterContinental hotels that usually cost 40,000 points to reserve.
InterContinental hotels in Budapest, Houston, Mumbai, Murcia, Saigon and Spain can be found on this list. 5,000 point rooms are reserved on a first come first served basis, with the most desirable rooms selling out early in the quarter.
