Price Matters When Deciding Whether to Travel

Most Americans decide whether to make vacation plans on their ability to find either cheap airplane tickets or cheap vacation packages. The best bargain is more important to potential travelers than brand loyalty, according to a survey conducted by a members-only travel website called SniqueAway.

Sixty percent of the 924 respondents to the poll said that the only reason that they had taken a vacation was because they had found a good deal. The survey found that potential vacationers search multiple travel sites looking for the best deal before making any decision.

Over two thirds of the respondents said that they subscribed to newsletters that informed them of travel deals. Of those subscribing, 81 percent subscribe to between one and five travel deal newsletters, with 19 percent subscribing to over six such newsletters.

Seventy percent of members of deal websites acknowledged feelings of excitement or elation after discovering deals that they valued.

Travel experts advise potential travelers not to spend too much time searching for deals. One of the most common complaints travel Internet companies receive from customers is that they are unable to find deals that were posted on a given site a couple of days ago and sometimes even a couple of hours ago.

Travel deals are always subject to change at any time based on demand and availability. Savvy travel lookers need to be in a position to buy when they find an attractive cheap deal.
