New Attractions Coming to Universal Orlando

Given the popularity of Orlando as a destination, cheap airplane tickets, discount hotel rooms, and cheap vacation packages are in ready supply.

To remain competitive, Universal Orlando Resort is planning on rolling out several new and updated shows and attractions this spring and summer.

The Blue Man Group, which has been performing at the resort since 2007 will kick off a re-imagined show at their Universal CityWalk theater in February.

Also debuting in February will be Hollywood Drive-In Golf, a 36 hole minute golf course based on horror and sci-fi film classics of the drive in movie era.

March will see the unveiling of Universals updated Amazing Adventures of Spiderman ride. This ride has been one of the most popular attractions at Islands of Adventure since it was introduced in 1999. The new and improved Spiderman ride will feature 4K digital high definition animation, new high tech 3-D glasses and upgrades to the set, audio and lighting systems.

In May Universal will launch two new daily shows: the Superstar Parade, a daytime procession of animated characters and street performers, and a nighttime show (Cinematic Spectacular: 100 Years of Movie Memories) at the parks lagoon that will employ waterfall screens, fountains and pyrotechnics, and be narrated by actor Morgan Freeman.

Later in the summer a Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem 3-D animated ride featuring the voices of actors from the 2010 film will commence, as will an immersive entertainment retail experience based on characters from Nickelodeons SpongeBob SquarePants cartoon TV series.

Additions are also being made to Universals Wet n Wild water park this year with the creation of an interactive family water play area which will feature water slide and over 100 soakers, jets, waterfalls and water cannons.

Universal expects to experience brief closures of some areas of the park early this year as it implements new shows and attractions.

Expansion of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter theme park was announced this past December but no details concerning the expansion have been released. www.cheapfares.com
