Mitt Romney Attacked On Flight to LA

Even millionaires can appreciate cheap fares and discount hotel rooms. What they do not appreciate is being attacked by fellow passengers. Mitt Romney and his wife were seated in the economy section of the plane when the incident occurred.

Romney, a 2008 Republican presidential candidate, was threatened by an out of control passenger on a flight departing from Vancouver on Monday, February 15th.

Romney and his wife were on an Air Canada flight to Los Angeles after attending the Winter Olympics in Vancouver. As his flight was taking off, Romney asked that the passenger seated in front of his wife to raise his reclined seat. It is against regulations for seats to be reclined during take offs and landings.

The passenger became agitated and took a swing at Romney. The former governor of Massachusetts avoided the punch but did not retaliate, deferring to airline crew members to handle the situation. Romney was not struck or injured.

The plane was re-routed back to Vancouver, where the disruptive passenger was arrested by Royal Canadian Mounted Police while his luggage was removed from the plane. The plane departed shortly afterward.

This passenger was later released and allowed to take another flight. Romney refused to press charges against his attacker.
