Marriott Phasing Out Adult Movies

Vacationers traveling on cheap airplane tickets often chose to stay at Marriott hotels because of the discount hotel rooms they offer. Soon Marriott guests will no longer be able to view skin flicks in their hotels.

Given the rapid decline in demand for adult movies, Marriott Internationals announcement that it will phase out porn over the next few yearsacross our system makes financial sense and is a positive PR stance.

Marriott explained its move saying Changing technology and how guests access entertainment has reduced the revenue hotels and their owners derive from in room movies, including adult content.

A hotel industry wide expulsion of X-rated movies is not anticipated because mature menu purchases still make up about 85 percent of the revenue hotels collect from in room entertainment.

Hotel chains have made hundreds of millions of dollars, $12.95 at a time, providing adult movies. Times have changed though and many travelers interested in viewing porn do so via hotel Wi-Fi access and whatever is loaded onto their laptops.

Viewing porn via the Internet has become increasingly popular in part because travelers can view free X-rated snippets via their computers. Also in room entertainment adult movies tend to be highly edited and censored vs. uncensored online X-rated content.
