Holiday Inn Offering to Pay Bag Fees

In a move that will make cheap airplane tickets and cheap vacation packages more affordable, Holiday Inn, InterContinental and other IHG-brand hotels have kicked off a promotion offering to offset checked luggage fees charged by airlines.

The following are the details of their Check It Free promotion:

Covers weekend stays between September 1st and December 30th of this year.

Guests will have the opportunity to get reimbursed $25 each way for a total of $50 roundtrip. Limit one reward per hotel room and reimbursement will be in the form of a Visa prepaid card.

Guests must stay two consecutive weekend nights (any two nights Friday through Sunday qualify) at any of IHGs 4,500 hotels worldwide and pay for their room using a Visa credit card.

After their stay, guests will need to download a rebate form and then mail it in with copies of their hotel receipt and baggage fee receipt from the same trip.

This offer addresses one of frequent fliers most common airline complaints are paying baggage fees. Given the second half of the year includes several of the years most popular holidays, including Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years, this will likely prove to be a very popular promotion.

IHG is hoping that by reimbursing travelers baggage fees that more people will be encouraged to fly and once they reach their destination stay at an IHG hotel.

This promotion is valid at participating InterContinental, Crowne Plaza, Hotel Indigo, Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express and Express by Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Club Vacation, Staybridge Suites and Candlewood Suites hotels for U.S. resident stays worldwide.
