Good News: The Name Changes, But the Cookie Stays

To more efficiently market its brand, thus helping it continue to offer cheap airplane tickets and cheap vacation packages, Republic Airways Holdings has decided to fold Midwest Airlines into its Frontier brand and retire the Midwest Airlines name. The good news for Midwest fliers is that Frontier will continue to offer Midwests warm chocolate chip cookies.

In fact, surveys revealed that these cookies were so popular that Frontier will introduce the iconic Midwest Airlines chocolate chip cookie on all of its Frontier flights this summer.

Research showed that customers preferred the Frontier brand, not surprising given that it is a much larger airline than Midwest. Republic reports that customers expressed a strong loyalty to both brands based on affordability, convenience, destinations and delivery of a differentiated experience.

Prior to the acquisition of Frontier and Midwest last year, Republic was a regional operator that exclusively flew flights for other airlines. Republic has announced its commitment to going forward with hubs in Denver and Milwaukee.

10 new destinations out of Denver and five new destinations out of Milwaukee will be added before the end of this year. This will result in the combined airline growing its seat miles by 7 percent, which is three times the industry average.

Republic anticipates the integration of Midwest and Frontier to take between 12 to 18 months to complete.
