Flight Attendants Dance to Lady Gaga

Frequent fliers are always on the look-out for cheap airplane tickets and discount hotel rooms. Recently a group of Cebu Pacific flight attendants decided to give their passengers a little entertainment to go along with their cheap airplane tickets. A video posted on YouTube last Thursday shows flight attendants delivering a safety demonstration while performing to Lady Gagas Just Dance and Katy Perrys California Gurls.

Over five million views were logged in the first five days their show was posted on YouTube. The online sensation logged one and a half million hits in its first 36 hours.

Cebu Pacific likes to be known as a fun airline and was looking for something new and different, to show that flight safety does not have to be boring. This was not a spontaneous performance. The airline had hired professional choreographers to help the attendants perfect their routine.

The airline noted that the special dance was performed only after a standard safety announcement had been made prior to takeoff. The airline said that the safety dance was an experiment that it hoped to repeat and give some of its cabin crew staff a chance to showcase their talent.

Not everyone was amused by this dance. The Flight Attendants and Stewards Association of the Philippines stated in a press release flight attendants are safety professionals and to require them to dance in front of passengers is demeaning and undignified.

U.S. safety regulations have generally permitted airlines latitude when delivering safety announcements so long as all the mandated points are addressed.
