If cheap airplane tickets and/or discount hotel rooms motivate you to consider taking a trip, then you should start looking into traveling to Europe during its upcoming off peak travel time, usually September through November. What makes visiting Europe all the sweeter this fall is that the euro fell to a four year low vs. the dollar earlier this summer. Currently the euro is worth 10% less compared to US currency than a year ago.
Last year many round trip airfares to Europe fell by more than 50 percent from August to September. Some travel experts believe that not as many deals may be available in September this year, but that October and November may be great times to fly because additional air capacity is being added to many European destinations.
Vacationers intent on finding the best deals will need to be flexible. Rome, Paris and London are the most popular destinations in Europe and typically not the cities where the best travel deals are offered. Currently the lowest average airfares can be found traveling to Ireland, Belgium and Spain.
Hotel rates in Barcelona and Dublin have fallen appreciably. Barcelona hotels are charging an average room rate of $198 vs. Rome at $277 and Paris at $298.
Purchasing a vacation package, where both airfare and hotel room are included in the price is often the way to find the very best/cheapest travel deals.
