Expect More Cheap Fares This Fall

Although some travelers have experienced higher hotel rates and airfares this summer, travel experts are predicting that cheap airplane tickets and discount hotel rooms will be more plentiful this fall. The volcanic ash cloud, the oil spill, and an uncertain economic recovery are all contributing to room rates basically being equal to last summers record lows and airline ticket prices, which are up slightly now, already beginning to drop for the fall in select markets.

The two major exceptions to lower travel prices are car rental rates and cruise prices.

The following are destinations which represent particularly good values:

Airfares to Europe for travel this fall have been dropping partly as a result of a stronger dollar (up 10 percent in the last three months) compared to the Euro. Hotel prices in Europe tend to be much lower in the fall due to fewer tourists. Some travel experts expect European airfares to continue to drop (already down about $200 for fall flights) over the next 30 to 45 days.

Theme parks, including Disney, have been offering great deals to encourage visitors to stay on their properties this fall.

To attract guests, many Vegas hotels are offering prices for the fall equal to or lower than their previous all time low prices.

All-inclusive resorts are starting to offer some fantastic deals. Add on incentives such as free activities and free valet parking are being offered at some resorts to sweeten the deals.
