Disney Opens 1st non-themed Hawaiian Hotel

Although relatively cheap travel options, including cheap airplane tickets and cheap vacation packages remain available to Hawaii, Disneys new Aulani hotel is one of the pricier new properties in Hawaii.

Disneys new hotel is located on 21 oceanfront acres in the resort enclave of Ko Olina, 25 miles west of downtown Honolulu.

Weekend to weekend stays in mid October are costing between $549 a night for a single ocean view room to $2,750 a night for a two bedroom, three bathroom suite. JW Marriott Ihilanis hotel next door is quoting rates ranging from $269 to $459 a night.

Disneys new Aulani hotel is focused on presenting an authentic Hawaiian vacation experience for guests specifically attracted to the location while appealing to Disney enthusiasts that value a family friendly environment with familiar Disney touches. The intent is to offer a Disney quality experience with a theming, storytelling cultural sensitivity and immersion to life that did not require a theme park, according to Disneys president.

Guests staying at Disneys newest Hawaiian property will see:

Seven stories of artwork embedded in the side of the hotels towers and a front lobby with art depicting Hawaiian life and symbols.

Auntys Beach House indoor play area for ages 3 to 10, featuring a maze of rooms with touch screen video games, costumes and movie showings with simulated rainstorms.

An 18,000 square foot spa includes a teen only area that offers frozen yogurt, Xbox, Kinect fitness activities, manicures and pedicures.

Waikolohe Valley which features two waterslides, a 900 foot long twisty steam, a Rainbow Reef manmade snorkel area, complete with 1,500 fish, a kids 2,200 square foot water play area, and the Makai Preserve, where guests can share a pool with stingrays, whose stingers have been removed.
