Travelers are hoping that the debut and eventual rollout of Boeing Dreamliner jets will contribute to the continued existence, and hopeful expansion, of available cheap airplane tickets and cheap vacation packages because of its unprecedented operating efficiency which will save money on fuel.
The first US flight of the state of the art Boeing 787 Dreamliner was on Sunday, November 11th, carrying 200 United Airlines passengers from Houston to Chicago.
United expects the 787, of which the airline has ordered fifty, to revolutionize the flying experience while delivering unmatched operating efficiency, comfort, and lower emissions.
The Dreamliner reduces fuel expense because its body is made from lightweight composite materials. Passenger comforts include bigger windows, larger overhead bins, and better ventilation.
Boeing delivered United its first Dreamliner on Sunday, September 28th. The plane was put through extensive testing in October prior to earning Federal Aviation Administration certification.
Japans All Nippon Airways became the first airline to receive the Dreamliner in September of 2011, which was three years later than its original scheduled delivery date.
United has reported that because of unexpected delivery delays some of its domestic flights scheduled to use the 787 aircraft will operate with different planes in November and December.
Uniteds Dreamliners come with 36 First Class seats, 70 premium coach seats and 113 coach seats.
