Alaska Airlines Now More Pet Friendly

Not only is Alaska Airline a very competitive regional airline known for its cheap airplane tickets and cheap vacation packages. It is also committed to make traveling with pets easier on its aircraft.

Alaska has partnered with Banfield Pet Hospital to help travelers prepare their pets for flying. Banfield is the country biggest general veterinary practice with over 800 animal hospitals in 43 states.

Banfield has agreed to give Alaska Airlines customers traveling with or shipping their pets a free office visit, travel consultation, and $10 discount on a health certificate. This certificate is required for all pets traveling on a plane, whether in a cabin, as baggage, or as air cargo.

Alaska aims to be one of the leading airlines for pet travel. When transporting pets, Alaska believes that there is nothing more important than ensuring their health and safety.

Alaska customers who sign up for its Fur-st Class Care service are allowed to travel with their pets in the cabin. Alaska customers can ship pets via air freight when their owners are not traveling with them via Alaskas PetStreak Animal Express service.

Experts have noted that today Alaska is one of the few airlines that still welcomes pets onboard its flights both in cabins and cargo holds.

In May the airline put in place new kennel standards for animals traveling in airplane holds. Kennels are required to have nut and bolt locks to ensure pets remain safely in their kennels throughout their travel.

Almost 83,000 pets were flown by Alaska Airlines in 2011. www.cheapfares.com
