Airports Working to Make Flying Less Stressful

Given that prospective travelers often have multiple airports to depart from that offer cheap airplane tickets and cheap vacation packages, select airports are taking steps to make passengers airport experiences more pleasant.

Many airports are offering some type of summertime entertainment:

San Francisco International Airport is sponsoring a You Are Hear summer concert series.

Dulles International Airport is hosting a jazz series.

Vancouver International Airport is using DJs, live entertainment, free samples of treats and sweets, and $10 lunch specials throughout the summer during its popular, pre security Take off Fridays celebrations.

Philadelphia International Airport is sponsoring a summer Just Plane Fun program that treats travelers to a range of free services including makeovers, live music, and the opportunity to relax in one of the airports two Chillin Zones, which sport sofas, tables, and plants.

Philadelphia International Airport has upped the ante in catering to travelers and started offering complimentary cool drinks to between 600 to 700 passengers daily. Given how warm this summer has been, the airport decided to offer passengers waiting to go through security checkpoints a refreshing complimentary glass of lemonade or iced tea. This helps pleasantly pass the time while waiting in line. The drinks have to be tossed once passengers reach the front of the checkpoint.

Airport staff is monitoring checkpoint lines and sending five rolling carts that serve drinks to where the lines are the longest. Once the weather turns cool, the airport plans to offer passengers hot chocolate to keep them warm and toasty. www.cheapfares.com
